The Federal Government, through Ministers of Education Dr. Tunji Alausa and Suwaiba Said, has announced that most of the concerns raised by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have been resolved.
Key improvements include enhanced allowances and better service conditions for university staff.
The remaining issues are currently being handled by university governing councils.
The government has called on ASUU to return to the negotiation table, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing students’ interests.
It also reiterated that the “no work, no pay” policy is a standing labor law aimed at ensuring accountability in public institutions.
Under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the Federal Government is committed to supporting staff welfare, maintaining stable academic calendars, and implementing reforms to foster quality education, innovation, and greater autonomy for universities.
The government remains open to dialogue to ensure a thriving academic environment for all.
